Bow Down (2026)

Trump sits triumphantly on the back of a bowing white elephant while giving the finger. He believes he is all-powerful and thinks he is untouchable (for the moment). The shadow he casts before him is that of ICE; an ominous threat of his lust for vengeance. ICE acts as his private army in US cities, where we have all witnessed the chaos and death it has caused to citizens protesting their rights under the First Amendment.

I use the white elephant as it is a symbol of a useless gift disguised as something of value that over time becomes burdensome and difficult to dispose of. The Republicans however bow down to their king and his insanity. As Trump bullies the universities, media, and courts into submission, we feel the fear and the palpable divide in this country. As an immigrant to the US it astounds and saddens me that it seems so easy to dismantle democracy. The once beacon of democratic hopes is now in peril of becoming an autocratic government.
